Changes

My internship at the Bloomington Herald-Times has come to an end, and that means it’s time for an update.

I’ve got a few weeks left here in Bloomington, then I’m headed to Washington D.C. for five months. I will be interning at the Chronicle of Higher Education, reporting and blogging mostly about technology. I’m really looking forward to both the internship and getting out of Indiana for a bit. I’ve been here twelve years and would like to get a breather from the Hoosier state.

Oh, another thing. I finished one last story for IU Student Media before I part ways. It’s an in-depth piece on the murder of IU assistant professor Don Belton and the trial of his killer Michael Griffin. It explores how the two met, the events that led to Belton’s murder and how a legal tactic known as the “gay panic defense” may have factored into Griffin’s sentence.

It’s based on three years of reporting and can be read here at Inside Magazine.
